Raptor Edge, the solution for total edgebanding control

Raptor Edge is Meler’s automatic solution for edgebanding that improves productivity thanks to its agility to adapt to format change.  

RAPTOR EDGE:THE IMPROVEMENT ON CLASSIC EDGE-BANDING APPLICATION

One of the biggest challenges for manufacturers in the woodworking industry is to adapt quickly to the different formats of wood panels they have to process. When a new series of parts arrives, the operator stops the production line and manually adjusts the lamination width. Fine-tuning the production line in this way is not an easy task and Meler has therefore developed an automatic adjustment solution that optimises productivity and improves the quality of edge banding lines.

It is not just an applicator, but a controller of edgebanding.

Meler’s solution consists of two products that work synchronously: Raptor Edge and its control system MOTION.
Raptor Edge is a lip applicator designed to prevent cross-linking of PUR adhesives. It has a compact motorisation system and various configuration possibilities for an easy integration into any edge banding line:

–        Location of the applicator  on the left (L) or on the right(R).
–        The position of the module:  located in an upright position (V) or inclined (I).
–        The desired lamination width: 0 – 60mm, 0 – 100mm, 0 – 150mm.

Millimeter accuracy and total usability

MOTION is the touchscreen controller that comes with the Raptor Edge applicator. It is so compact that it can be installed anywhere on the machine and, thanks to its touchscreen, it can be used to make a real time lamination width control and display. Its functioning is very simple. First you enter the desired position or target and the system starts automatically in a matter of seconds. As the position reading is instantaneous, we can make a second, more precise adjustment with a programming tolerance of ±0.1mm.

Thanks to the automation of the system and the double adjustment, quality problems are solved.

Motion is capable of controlling up to two applicators simultaneously.

RECOMMENDED APPLICATIONS

The Raptor Edge automatic adjustment solution is suitable for manufacturers who want to move away from the roller lamination system to a lip applicator system, more suitable for working with reactive adhesives, and who also want to optimize the time spent on changeovers.
If the application requires it, Raptor Edge has the possibility to integrate the module opening and closing control (by time and distance) for a total control of the gluing of the board.
