FAQS

Can I make changes to the equipment autonomously?

Meler designs its solutions with a true customer orientation. As a result, the operator can easily manipulate pumping parameters and temperatures.

To facilitate maintenance tasks such as changing filters or cleaning the tank, the casings can be conveniently removed to ensure full access to the inside of the equipment.

For installation modifications such as channel expansion, the integration of a shot controller, or a software change, Meler recommends the intervention of an official technician.

What is the right working temperature?

Remember to consult the technical data sheet of the adhesive used to know the softening and application temperatures. The application temperature of adhesives can vary between 120ºC and 200ºC. Meler offers special equipment for working with high temperatures (up to 230ºC).

Is it possible to avoid the charring of the adhesive in the system?

Charring is the main enemy of productivity when working with hot melt. It is caused by overheating of the system and also by contact with oxygen in the environment. There are systems that help to reduce it, such as melting on demand, the placement of filters in applicators/hoses or a correct parameterization of the tank temperature according to its consumption.

At Meler we recommend an efficient use of the equipment during line stoppages by activating the “stand by” mode and ensuring quality preventive maintenance.

How often should I update my system?

It all depends on the production rate of your business and the working conditions. Like any equipment, hot melt application systems suffer a daily wear and tear that makes it necessary to frequently check the condition of the modules, filters, nozzles, solenoid valves, etc. Meler recommends keeping a stock of this type of consumables to avoid unnecessary line stoppages.

If you notice that your system is not working as it should despite having performed the appropriate maintenance tasks, it is likely that other elements of the system need to be checked in depth. Meler recommends that an official specialist (Meler technician or partner) is the one who performs any manipulation of the equipment to maintain its warranty.

Why does the “angel hair” effect occur and how can it be avoided?

This effect is related to:

  • The viscosity of the adhesive
  • The application temperature
  • The distance from the applicator to the substrate
  • The working pressure
  • The characteristics of the chosen module (single/double/cc), nozzle and solenoid valve.

The precise adjustment of these variables will help to minimize this effect or make it disappear.

How often should I clean my system to ensure that it is working properly?

All installations are different: type of adhesive, working hours, sector; but cleaning tasks must be performed at least every 1000 hours. Our responsibility as manufacturers has led us to automate maintenance tasks by means of preventive warnings and alarms to facilitate the work. Whatever your working environment, our team will be able to advise you to ensure the optimal performance of your installation.
